Voluntary contributions, humanitarian and financial assistance

by the Republic of Kazakhstan

 

As a reliable Member State of the United Nations, and as Chair of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Republic of Kazakhstan made in 2011 voluntary contributions in the amount of $2 453 000 US dollars.

In particular , the following contributions were delivered to a number of international foundations and bodies: $ 250 000 - to the UNESCO and World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation (each); $ 150 000 - to the United Nations Register of Damage caused by the Construction of the Wall in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and for financing of the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (each); $125 000 - to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs; $100 000 - to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), United Nations Development Program , “ UN Women” Organization, the UN Trust Fund for Landlocked Developing States , as well as for the creation of the UN ESCAP /ECE sub regional office in Almaty, Kazakhstan (each) . Along with this, Kazakhstan contributed 50 000 Euros to the construction of IAEA Warranty l aboratory in Seibersdorf ( Austria ).

D ue to devastating consequences following the earthquake and tsunami, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan rendered a financial assistance of $1 million to Japan as well as $500 000 to the OIC Relief Fund for Somalia to help the Somali people on the edge of a food crisis .

In addition, within the Kazakhstan 's participation in the construction of Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant sarcophagus, 2 million Euros have been allocated to the related Fund.
